The most beautiful time of the year is the Spring and Summer shows of beautiful foliage, flowers, trees and of course, the always gorgeous Rose & Flower Show. The 2019 Rose and Flower Show in May-June will be incredible this year as we institute new changes, additions and surprises. We wish you a “Happy Gardening Spring” as you prepare for the 2019 season. -JacyJoyPals
“SEE how the flowers, as at parade,
Under their colors stand display’d:
Each regiment in order grows,
That of the tulip, pink, and rose.”

The Promise Gardens begin their beautiful spring flower display with tulips taking center stage. What can be more beautiful in the garden than seeing the first blooms of spring in a colorful array of pastels and popping bright colors? I think that none can take their place. I am transfixed by them as they swirl and dance in the soft winds and how appropriate to photograph them for the new Promise Gardens 2019 Art on Canvas series. Imagine this beauty in a mega large canvas in a room designed with these colors! Stunningly beautiful! My next interior design project for my @ClassyChicHome will be designed using this “Lavender Spring” Art on Canvas as its inspiration. _JacyJoyPals
It’s that time again gardening friends to plan your gardens for 2019 season. We are creating many new garden beds, moving plants to new locations and the favorite part of it all is choosing beautiful new plants from the plethora of gorgeous ones available to us. This year we will be adding to our four rose gardens new antique, English and modern roses with colorful new borders. For our original Promise Garden on the rock hill where Lydia lives and oversees, we will plant many new flowering bulbs and low-growing flowering ground covers. This are just a few of the additions to the 2019 Promise Gardens so an inspiration storyboard was in order. As all good gardeners say, “it is never too early to plan for our gardens” and “you can never have too many garden beds and flowers.” We wish you inspiration and happy planning your gardens for 2019! #Jacy JoyPals #PromiseGardens
Thanks to all of our gardening friends for their inspirational photos.
Beautiful Spring! We are happy to see the flowers begin to bloom and are looking forward to this year’s beauties as they grow another year in fullness and show. The sun is shining brightly here in the Valley which means our flowering trees are popping out all over. It’s a cheerful place and since we all love the colors of spring, a repeated post was in order. This is a combination of my favorite colors and the inspiration color palette for my beach house and formal areas of blue and white. Isn’t it lovely?
At Promise Gardens we are always thinking color, color scheme, color palette, storyboards and especially for each new garden season. What will it be this year? Pastels or bold colors? We shall see!

The joy of the Promise Gardens each year is my over 40 peony bushes-trees that produce such beauty that takes my breath away. They are my favorite next to the Rose….a must have in your gardens dear friends for the sheer loveliness and joy they bring!

Daybreak in a Garden
I HEARD the farm cocks crowing, loud, and faint, and thin,
When hooded night was going and one clear planet winked:
I heard shrill notes begin down the spired wood distinct,
When cloudy shoals were chinked and gilt with fires of day.
White-misted was the weald; the lawns were silver-grey;
The lark his lonely field for heaven had forsaken;
And the wind upon its way whispered the boughs of may,
And touched the nodding peony-flowers to bid them waken.

It is almost show time again in the Promise Gardens and we are preparing the plethora of show pieces of colors, textures, flowers of every kind and description. Grabbed a quick shot of these right before the deluge that is upon us. This is definitely our favorite time of the year with the beautiful colors of spring, the trees blooming and happiness abounding in taking it all in. Enjoy the season!
COLEUS – These are a “must include” in the garden
Oh the beauty of gardens! There is something totally mesmerizing and special about photographing the creation as it grows, buds and exhibits its beauty.
As photographers we look for this beauty everywhere and especially at the National and State Arboretums, Botanical Gardens, private gardens and our own Promise Gardens and backyard. As we travel, we always visit large or famous gardens to capture them for our “Art on Canvas” collection of prints. The National Arboretum in Washington, DC is fabulous and the Alabaster backdrop of the city really make beautiful images; the State Arboretum in Virginia (Blandy Farm) likewise has a beautiful backdrop of historic gardens and treasures. If you don’t have large gardens nearby where you live, go to your local nursery and ask permission to photograph the flowers. Most are very generous in allowing you to photograph them and I have donated, shared or published them with the locals, media and with a shout-out to the nursery. No matter how you capture your florals this spring do it for the beauty, fun and sharing. It is a special time to enjoy the creation.
