Scenes of Garden Beauty

Wow, every year I am amazed at the natural beauty of the Promise Gardens in bloom. The colors this year are vibrant and the plants have taken on super-size (perhaps from our very cold, snowy winter) and I cannot bring enough cuttings indoors to enjoy in every room. Even with the many large walls of windows and glass doors, the views are spectacular from within, the aroma and close-up vases filled for indoors is a must too. How many ways can we adorn and show off the beauty of flowers in June?  Here are several from my Promise Gardens that I designed and enjoy.  Be encouraged to create beautiful vignettes for your garden too. Happy Gardening!

June
***

Indeed I feel as if I came too soon
To round your young May moon
And set the world a-gasping at my noon.
Yet come I must. So here are strawberries
Sun-flushed and sweet, as many as you please;
And here are full-blown roses by the score,
More roses, and yet more.

Garden Design on my Mind…

I am in the city this week but the Promise Gardens are not far from my mind.  I am so excited about the recent finds to complete the new Secret Garden and Shabby Chic outdoor studios.  The bicycle posted below became a quest for me and at the most unexpected place, I found the perfect bicycle.  I will not describe but will surprise you when completed and in its proper place in the gardens.

Colder weather has brought low temps at night but the roses are screaming to bud and I believe they will be earlier this year.  Did you see them last year?  Here’s an image from one of the rose gardens last year which I have uploaded to my Pinterest.  This is the antique rose garden and the wonderful Rosa Munda has preeminence.

A Lovely Garden Ride

How absolutely exquisite! This is perfection for that old bike in our garden. At first, I considered new paint in bright primary colors of reds, yellows but after this image, I am captivated by the pinks, lavenders, white and would be so “shabby chic” with the  “purple” or pastel door”!  {see post below}  I am in pursuit…it is all coming together so use your imagination – a pink bike overflowing with pastel flowers parked outside of the purple/lavender doors…such an invitation of delight to enter…the path to the secret garden…

What shades will the doors and flowers be?

English Roses & Promises

In the Promise Gardens, rose promises come true.  Our English roses are successful here because 1) they are loved and cared for 2) the have a healthy garden environment and 3) they are David Austin Roses.

We have over 250 roses and 70 are English roses and we absolutely love their prolific blooming and rambling look of pleasant softness and sweet aroma.  They are an integral part of our rose gardens.

Pictured here is Skylark…a beautiful luminous pink that is perfect in the garden and next to lavender, white peonies and lime green/silver foliage a knock-out color combination that will wow both outdoors and indoors.  The description of this lovely rose is here.

Visit David Austin Roses and you will see why I love them so!

More Potting Table & Arbor Love

It’s that time again…

I am up-to-my-ears in designing the gardens for this year. Spring popped up overnight and we are ahead of blooming schedule even before the mulching, cleaning and trimming are complete! But no worry, the favorite part of gardening for me is designing. This image depicts some of our new porch design for last year…wait until you see the arbors, potting sheds, tables this year…the arbors are already overflowing with stems/buds and more.

There are some really beautiful surprises forthcoming and creative things you may want to try in your own gardens so watch for them. The new potting table will get an update of glorious beauties and the old very large potting table will get a new place with the works in a new spot — “secret dining garden.”  The “Secret Resting Garden” and “Photography Garden” will hold wonderful things and activities.   Oh so fun!

Happy Gardening…treat yourself to the beauty of our world…
