We are once again in Fall season as the leaves change color, the skies are azure blue, the fall mums are blooming and we await the final days of color that will turn to bare trees and snowy ground. Fall is a favorite time of year to photograph the forests in the Shenandoah Valley and in the Promise Gardens before winter. We are off again to capture them all.
Enjoy the season as the Promise Gardens prepare for bedding down for winter soon. We will miss their blooms but anticipate them again in Spring!
Beautiful Spring! We are happy to see the flowers begin to bloom and are looking forward to this year’s beauties as they grow another year in fullness and show. The sun is shining brightly here in the Valley which means our flowering trees are popping out all over. It’s a cheerful place and since we all love the colors of spring, a repeated post was in order. This is a combination of my favorite colors and the inspiration color palette for my beach house and formal areas of blue and white. Isn’t it lovely?
At Promise Gardens we are always thinking color, color scheme, color palette, storyboards and especially for each new garden season. What will it be this year? Pastels or bold colors? We shall see!
It’s Spring Time again! We will soon be sharing our lovely gardens with you again! Until then, Happy Spring Gardening!
We are out and about on this lovely day watching the tulips and bulbs pop out everywhere. Soon we will have the incredible beauty of them!
A little remembrance… How wonderful to see the sunshine this morning after drenching rains yesterday which watered the gardens so beautifully and the flowers just popped out with joy, the leaves drinking up each drop and of course, most importantly, the roots just as happy as can be. How precious is the rain and sunshine to the gardens…very…and they show their appreciation by happiness in color, buds and giving joy to their caretakers.
This is another image from the Promise Gardens Spring & Summer photoshoots. The plants (common name) are from left to right: Tulips, Mock Orange, Rose of Sharon, Peony, Hollyhock.
Tulips: Everyone loves tulips, a must have in your spring garden/planters.
Mock Orange: An amazing bursting forth each spring of incredible white flowers with glorious aroma.
Rose Sharon: Breathtakingly beautiful and each year more abundant.
Peonies: No garden is complete without an array of peonies. The yellow is new to our gardens this year…sensational!
Hollyhock: The “red” hollyhock is a favorite and just breathtaking in the garden. We have both single/double and prefer the historic “single” version. These are heart stopping!
It’s a beautiful morning in the Promise Gardens. After the rain the flowers and color are popping out all over. A walk through the gardens gives a beautiful scent of peonies, roses, the incredible citrus aroma of Mock Orange, rain and rich earth! What a little piece of heaven on earth. Come and take a “turn” in the garden with me and Christina…
“CONSIDER THE LILIES OF THE FIELD.”
Flowers preach to us if we will hear:– The rose saith in the dewy morn, I am most fair; Yet all my loveliness is born Upon a thorn. The poppy saith amid the corn: Let but my scarlet head appear And I am held in scorn; Yet juice of subtle virtue lies Within my cup of curious dyes. The lilies say: Behold how we Preach without words of purity. The violets whisper from the shade Which their own leaves have made: Men scent our fragrance on the air, Yet take no heed Of humble lessons we would read. But not alone the fairest flowers: The merest grass Along the roadside where we pass, Lichen and moss and sturdy weed, Tell of His love who sends the dew, The rain and sunshine too, To nourish one small seed. _Christina G. Rossetti
