A Beautiful Ride with Flowers

As you might have guessed from my new banner, I have completed the garden bicycle and it is exactly what I anticipated it to be…simply lovely!  As I blogged on my design in earlier posts of “Promise Garden Color Guide” and “A Lovely Ride” the flower bicycle is a favorite focal point for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show with lots of exclamations of “wow” with praise and “I want one”!

A few notes:  My final decision was Turquoise as the color for the bike (see Color Guide link above) and Purple for the Herb Tricycle (photos forthcoming).  The flowers will grow out and cascade over the bicycle in several weeks which will enhance it even more.  I used many different annuals and perennials that trail, cascade and give an ever-blooming display.  Watch the blog for more on the bikes, trikes and potting tables.  The slideshow gallery for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show will be posted soon.   Be inspired to create and happy gardening!!

The Colors of Tulips

“SEE how the flowers, as at parade,
Under their colors stand display’d:
Each regiment in order grows,
That of the tulip, pink, and rose.”

The Promise Gardens begin their beautiful spring flower display with tulips taking center stage.  What can be more beautiful in the garden than seeing the first blooms of spring in a colorful array of pastels and popping bright colors?  I think that none can take their place.  I am transfixed by them as they swirl and dance in the soft winds and how appropriate to photograph them for the new Promise Gardens 2019 Art on Canvas series.  Imagine this beauty in a mega large canvas in a room designed with these colors!  Stunningly beautiful!  My next interior design project for my @ClassyChicHome will be designed using this “Lavender Spring” Art on Canvas as its inspiration.  _JacyJoyPals

The Gardener

The Gardener

The gardener does not love to talk.
He makes me keep the gravel walk;
And when he puts his tools away,
He locks the door and takes the key.

Away behind the currant row,
Where no one else but cook may go,
Far in the plots, I see him dig,
Old and serious, brown and big.

He digs the flowers, green, red, and blue,
Nor wishes to be spoken to.
He digs the flowers and cuts the hay,
And never seems to want to play.

Silly gardener! summer goes,
And winter comes with pinching toes,
When in the garden bare and brown
You must lay your barrow down.

Well now, and while the summer stays,
To profit by these garden days
O how much wiser you would be
To play at Indian wars with me!

Lydia Of The Promise Gardens

The beautiful bronze Lydia adorned and boasting beautiful coleus flowers shows off her beauty as the sun shines on her.  This is her new color for 2018 as she lights up the corner Promise Garden.  From original white to blue to bronze she always shines and perfects the show in the Promise Gardens.  She models in frames for 2018.

Beautiful Golden Copper Lydia

Beautiful Golden Copper Lydia has been wonderfully dressed in a brilliant golden copper for 2018.  She spent many years “natural” then to “dressed in blue” and now exquisitely dressed in gleaming golden copper.  When the sun’s rays shine on Lydia she takes on a totally surreal beauty that only the light, sun and color could capture.  Remember as you garden and tire of the “old look” you can always rejuvenate and beautify those sad garden statues and features to new again.  Isn’t she lovely?  We think so and even though the photos do not do true justice to her, the eyes do.  Happy Gardening and be sure to add a “Lydia” to your gardens too.

Don’t Forget The Herbs!

In the Promise Gardens we not only grow beautiful Roses, Peonies, plants and trees but each year we also grow our own wonderful herbs for our Beyondtheyum meals.  They are great but also fun as we decorate the Promise Garden porch and potting tables with cute ways to display them.  We even display them on a Herb Bike”!!  Whether in small/large pots, in-ground or containers for the window sill, we love to GROW herbs.  They are easy plus fresh herbs complement our recipes.  So “Don’t Forget the Herbs” in your Summer garden and display them in fun ways including hand-painted pots and other container displays!

A few helpful sites for growing herbs:  Better Homes & Garden and Burpee.

The Art of Gardening

One of the most important aspects of gardening is the ability to create beautiful art work for your home, to share, gift and cheer.  As Master Gardeners and Artists, we take great care and joy in creating beautiful art for our homes and to share with others. These images were photographed this morning after rain so that I could create art for 2018 Rose & Garden Show. The backdrop is my handpainted window which overlooks the Promise Gardens and which adds additional impact and beauty to the vases. So then, it is not just the creating-tending gardens but also the sharing through giving, designing, creating art and memories. Art extends the life of what we have enjoyed from our gardens in color, light, aroma and beauty. It is no wonder that our famous artists were lovers of gardens as well! Happy Gardening! @jacyjoypals @JayJacyPhotography
