Oh they are so beautiful!!! I am astonished with the blooms and the air is filled with aroma of lilacs in bloom.
I am fascinated by the changing colors of the garden from the spring pastels of flowering trees and bulbs to the deep reds of roses to the deep emerald green of Arborvitae, I am capturing them with my eye and camera. I cannot quite decide what I like best, the soft pastels or the deep primary colors or a combination of both so it is determined that I just love them all, in all colors, shades, and in all sizes and shapes because I AM a GARDENER!
Pastel Garden Loves: This image depicts my “softer side” and photographed when the buds were beginning to open rendering lovely and varied shades of orchid. Total color awesomeness. It has blessed my soul today as the arborist prepares for removing those damaged trees and debris that are hanging 100 ft. above me so that I cannot even get into the “Secret Garden” part of the gardens. I shall photograph them as they work and share with you.
As you might have guessed from my new banner, I have completed the garden bicycle and it is exactly what I anticipated it to be…simply lovely! As I blogged on my design in earlier posts of “Promise Garden Color Guide” and “A Lovely Ride” the flower bicycle is a favorite focal point for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show with lots of exclamations of “wow” with praise and “I want one”!
A few notes: My final decision was Turquoise as the color for the bike (see Color Guide link above) and Purple for the Herb Tricycle (photos forthcoming). The flowers will grow out and cascade over the bicycle in several weeks which will enhance it even more. I used many different annuals and perennials that trail, cascade and give an ever-blooming display. Watch the blog for more on the bikes, trikes and potting tables. The slideshow gallery for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show will be posted soon. Be inspired to create and happy gardening!!
A very busy two weeks of show in the Promise Gardens! This is another image of the peonies brought indoors to enjoy before the heavy rainfall of this week. The colors are magnificent. I love the look of the aqua and turquoise glass with peonies and English roses. The aroma fills the room with incredible delight! I am excited about the yellow peonies which are making quite a show this year.
The Promise Garden color scheme for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show is taken from the image below and the beautiful image of Alma-Tadema. [see posts below] I created a color guide from the images to show those colors that will be used in the decor, flower pots, containers, hanging baskets, furniture, potting & garden tables, benches and more. Several of the statuary will be painted in various hues of these colors as well. The large Lydia in the main Promise Garden is already in the beautiful color of turquoise with silver overlay (images forthcoming). I will also add shabby chic furniture and draping in off-white. The secret garden and shabby chic gardens will also have other variations of the colors from this scheme. I am inspired! I hope it inspires you for your gardens as well.
It’s that time again…
I am up-to-my-ears in designing the gardens for this year. Spring popped up overnight and we are ahead of blooming schedule even before the mulching, cleaning and trimming are complete! But no worry, the favorite part of gardening for me is designing. This image depicts some of our new porch design for last year…wait until you see the arbors, potting sheds, tables this year…the arbors are already overflowing with stems/buds and more.
There are some really beautiful surprises forthcoming and creative things you may want to try in your own gardens so watch for them. The new potting table will get an update of glorious beauties and the old very large potting table will get a new place with the works in a new spot — “secret dining garden.” The “Secret Resting Garden” and “Photography Garden” will hold wonderful things and activities. Oh so fun!
Happy Gardening…treat yourself to the beauty of our world…
With our spring-like temperatures and tulips popping up everywhere, we are excited about our always beautiful spring in the Promise Gardens. Watch the blog for many beautiful images and helpful information to help make your gardening special this year!
