Spring Promises & Morning Sunshine

It’s Spring Time again!  We will soon be sharing our lovely gardens with you again!  Until then, Happy Spring Gardening!

We are out and about on this lovely day watching the tulips and bulbs pop out everywhere.  Soon we will have the incredible beauty of them!

A little remembrance… How wonderful to see the sunshine this morning after drenching rains yesterday which watered the gardens so beautifully and the flowers just popped out with joy, the leaves drinking up each drop and of course, most importantly, the roots just as happy as can be.  How precious is the rain and sunshine to the gardens…very…and they show their appreciation by happiness in color, buds and giving joy to their caretakers.

This is another image from the Promise Gardens Spring & Summer photoshoots. The plants (common name) are from left to right: Tulips, Mock Orange, Rose of Sharon, Peony, Hollyhock.

Notes:

  •  Tulips: Everyone loves tulips, a must have in your spring garden/planters.
  •  Mock Orange:  An amazing bursting forth each spring of incredible white  flowers with glorious aroma.
  • Rose Sharon:  Breathtakingly beautiful and each year more abundant.
  • Peonies:  No garden is complete without an array of peonies.  The yellow is new to our gardens this year…sensational!
  • Hollyhock: The “red” hollyhock is a favorite and just breathtaking in the garden.  We have both single/double and prefer the historic “single” version.  These are heart stopping!

Oh Beautiful Promise Gardens, A Sneak Peek

A beautiful but cooler and very windy day kept me out of the gardens today but it called me to photograph from the porch its beauty of colors beginning their opening display and safety from bending-to-ground large trees!  I am enamored by its glorious array of color.  This weekend should be lovely for photography and watching the gardens grow.  This past winter had something special as the gardens are more beautiful than ever so I am sharing a sneak peek before the entire gardens are in bloom for the Rose & Flower Show.  Wish you were here to enjoy too!  Enjoy your weekend!

Gorgeous Garden Inspiration

It’s that time of year again and we are dressing up the Promise Gardens for the late-May and June Rose, Flower and Garden Show. You may remember last year, the theme was bright, bold and beautiful color with fun garden toys and props. Today we are on inspiration garden tours as we travel to Arboretum, garden centers, design stores and more to create the inspiration gardens and what fun is that? Lots of fun! Here are my design images from last year. I will have the same colors for the décor and of course historical plants that fill the gardens. The idea is to find a “new” and “interesting” addition to the gardens. I have several places for an “outdoor room” (Jamie Durie style) and more. Watch for the next post which will house my inspiration images.

A Beautiful Ride with Flowers

As you might have guessed from my new banner, I have completed the garden bicycle and it is exactly what I anticipated it to be…simply lovely!  As I blogged on my design in earlier posts of “Promise Garden Color Guide” and “A Lovely Ride” the flower bicycle is a favorite focal point for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show with lots of exclamations of “wow” with praise and “I want one”!

A few notes:  My final decision was Turquoise as the color for the bike (see Color Guide link above) and Purple for the Herb Tricycle (photos forthcoming).  The flowers will grow out and cascade over the bicycle in several weeks which will enhance it even more.  I used many different annuals and perennials that trail, cascade and give an ever-blooming display.  Watch the blog for more on the bikes, trikes and potting tables.  The slideshow gallery for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show will be posted soon.   Be inspired to create and happy gardening!!

Peonies in Full Bloom

A very busy two weeks of show in the Promise Gardens!  This is another image of the peonies brought indoors to enjoy before the heavy rainfall of this week.  The colors are magnificent.  I love the look of the aqua and turquoise glass with peonies and English roses.  The aroma fills the room with incredible delight!  I am excited about the yellow peonies which are making quite a show this year.
