Beautiful Sunset and Snow

“But at sunset the clouds gathered again, bringing an earlier night, and the snow began to fall straight and steadily from a sky without wind, in a soft universal diffusion more confusing than the gusts and eddies of the morning. It seemed to be a part of the thickening darkness, to be the winter night itself descending on us layer by layer.”

Oh My Snowfall – PAX

It’s snowing and beautiful as it is, the danger is very great for so many of our friends and colleagues. Keep safe and warm and indoors.  This has been a winter of winters and snowfall that produced beautiful nature but has been a fright for many.  We expect 18+ inches!  Enjoy the beauty from a room with a view!

THE SPECKLED sky is dim with snow,
The light flakes falter and fall slow;
Athwart the hill-top, rapt and pale,
Silently drops a silvery veil;
And all the valley is shut in
By flickering curtains gray and thin.

The Promise of Spring

Though winter is strong upon us, snow abounding and windy cold days, we have the “promise of spring” which shall surely come soon. Can it be we are at February?  Yes, at the door and so we wait and enjoy the beauty of the season.

“In all-lack Winter,
Dull of sense and of sound,
We huddle and shiver
Beside our splinter
Of crackling pine,
Snow in sky and snow on ground.
Winter and cold
Can’t last for ever!
To-day, to-morrow, the sun will shine;
When we are old,
But some still are young,
Singing the song
Which others have sung,
Ringing the bells
Which others have rung,–
Even so!
We ourselves, who else?
We ourselves long
Long ago.”

Baby It’s Cold Outside

It’s certainly been a very very cold and snowy winter here in the Promise Gardens this winter and late fall! The temp today is 6 degrees and very icy so I can only observe from windows. It is snowing again and the sun is shining at the same time…awesome!

Snowfall in the Promise Gardens

The snow has fallen and created beautiful landscapes in the Promise Gardens. It’s beauty takes our breath away but like all horticulture and garden lovers, the heavy wet snow has already taken its toll this early in season. Last night in below freezing temps we had to upright some of the evergreen trees and add additional support. Some of the older large trees will need to come down. Snow on the trees is beautiful but also damaging. We are enjoying capturing the beauty while it lasts. The birds however are delighted to munch on the berries so brightly showing on the white snow!

If you have snow take a walk but watch out for falling snow, branches and trees! See more of our snow images at our JayJacy blog.
