Beautiful Sunset and Snow

“But at sunset the clouds gathered again, bringing an earlier night, and the snow began to fall straight and steadily from a sky without wind, in a soft universal diffusion more confusing than the gusts and eddies of the morning. It seemed to be a part of the thickening darkness, to be the winter night itself descending on us layer by layer.”

Meadows Dawn

~ ~ ~
“Out of the mid-wood’s twilight
Into the meadow’s dawn,
Ivory limbed and brown-eyed,
Flashes my Faun!

He skips through the copses singing,
And his shadow dances along,
And I know not which I should follow,
Shadow or song!

O Hunter, snare me his shadow!
O Nightingale, catch me his strain!
Else moonstruck with music and madness
I track him in vain!”

In The Forest – Poem by Oscar Wilde

A Fall Foliage Walk

It’s fall and we are traveling the coast and mountain ranges to view the beautiful fall foliage and partake of the gifts of the season.  This is surely a beautiful time of the year filled with autumn colors, gorgeous blue skies, crisp sunny days and yummy fruits of the season.  Enjoy and photograph your fall journey to remember during those cold days of winter.

Awesome Promise Gardens Photoshoot

The Promise Gardens Photoshoot images at last.  The gardens for 2012 were incredibly beautiful this year and with the new plantings and updated decor, truly an eye-popper and amazing feast of color and aroma.  We have been in drought ever since and I long to see this again and we will in September-October as leaves change and new fall plants emerge.  This image was shot before the show and photography and gives you a glimpse of a few of our views and backdrops in its naked beauty before photography gear was everywhere.  We will share more in later posts.  Enjoy the view!

Promise Gardens Heartbreak…

The wind sheer and storms have visited the Promise Gardens again. Photo is one of many of damage..this one has large leader crashed into fence.

Promise Gardens heartbreak…major damage from the storms and wind sheer damage/downed another four trees.  The aborist is getting rich from our gardens alone, fourth visit in two years to take down trees/brace/maintain.  Sad when it is historical trees.  We have planted twenty+ new trees over the last ten years but will take a century for them to meet the height and canopy of those lost.  We are very thankful that only the fence was damaged and no loss of life nor injury to our neighbors or critters (except the critters tree homes).

March Awakens the Promise Gardens

Spring is just around the corner and the rain and spring bulbs popping up in the Promise Gardens are a true indication that spring will soon be here.  Along with those lovelies that we patiently wait for during our cold and snow-filled days of winter, comes the work and preparation to ready the gardens for their best show of the season.  We love spring and summer months and although the Promise Gardens are filled with plants and trees for all seasons, it is our favorite garden time.  Why you ask?  As you can see from this image, the roses, peonies and flowering plants that pop with color and shout out to be loved, shared and photographed!  In this view is a favorite spot for our wedding, engagement, bridal portrait photography.  All of the gardens within the Promise Gardens have special places for every photographic session and opportunity.  Filling the gardens with furniture, props of every type and description make it a lovely and serene place to photograph and enjoy.  We will share features from each of those specials places this year on the blog.  Do you love “secret gardens” “children’s gardens” “romantic spots” “reading nooks” “statuary” “alees” “water features” “floral scents” “chirping birds” “garden tea parties” and paths filled with “lovely surprises”?  If so, come and visit our blog and enjoy the “Promise” of the season with us.

Where has your beloved gone, O most beautiful among women? Where has your beloved turned, that we may seek him with you? My beloved has gone down to his garden to the beds of spices, to graze in the gardens and to gather lilies. I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine; he grazes among the lilies.  Song of Solomon 6:1-3
