Happy Spring!

Beautiful Spring!  We are happy to see the flowers begin to bloom and are looking forward to this year’s beauties as they grow another year in fullness and show. The sun is shining brightly here in the Valley which means our flowering trees are popping out all over. It’s a cheerful place and since we all love the colors of spring, a repeated post was in order. This is a combination of my favorite colors and the inspiration color palette for my beach house and formal areas of blue and white. Isn’t it lovely?

At Promise Gardens we are always thinking color, color scheme, color palette, storyboards and especially for each new garden season. What will it be this year? Pastels or bold colors? We shall see!

Spring Promises & Morning Sunshine

It’s Spring Time again!  We will soon be sharing our lovely gardens with you again!  Until then, Happy Spring Gardening!

We are out and about on this lovely day watching the tulips and bulbs pop out everywhere.  Soon we will have the incredible beauty of them!

A little remembrance… How wonderful to see the sunshine this morning after drenching rains yesterday which watered the gardens so beautifully and the flowers just popped out with joy, the leaves drinking up each drop and of course, most importantly, the roots just as happy as can be.  How precious is the rain and sunshine to the gardens…very…and they show their appreciation by happiness in color, buds and giving joy to their caretakers.

This is another image from the Promise Gardens Spring & Summer photoshoots. The plants (common name) are from left to right: Tulips, Mock Orange, Rose of Sharon, Peony, Hollyhock.

Notes:

  •  Tulips: Everyone loves tulips, a must have in your spring garden/planters.
  •  Mock Orange:  An amazing bursting forth each spring of incredible white  flowers with glorious aroma.
  • Rose Sharon:  Breathtakingly beautiful and each year more abundant.
  • Peonies:  No garden is complete without an array of peonies.  The yellow is new to our gardens this year…sensational!
  • Hollyhock: The “red” hollyhock is a favorite and just breathtaking in the garden.  We have both single/double and prefer the historic “single” version.  These are heart stopping!

From My Window – Lilacs

Spring not only brings beautiful gardens to love and tend but also beauty to bring indoors.  Our lilacs bloom abundantly in the Promise Gardens every year and they are a wonderful flowering specimen to have for show and delight.  They can be reproduced amazingly fast and we now have seven lilacs at different stages of growth in the Promise Gardens.  Did I mention the fabulous aroma?  Bring them indoors for every room and instant loveliness!  We have been sharing them with nearby neighbors for their gardens — a lovely life pleasing and rewarding gift from our Promise Gardens to theirs.  Be sure to include them in your gardening design plan too – you will be greatly rewarded.

With Lilacs
I BEG the pardon of these flowers
For bringing them to one whose hair
Alone doth shame, beyond compare,
The sweetest blooms of richest bowers.

It’s Always A Festival…

of Flowers at Biltmore Estate. The walk through the azaleas is one of my favorites and second in line to the flower carpet and tulips.  It is so romantic and an escape into the beauty, aroma , color and tranquility of nature.  Come walk with me…there are waterscapes, vistas, secret places and sights to be adored (and photographed!).
