The Promise Gardens are sleeping under a blanket of snow until spring and then wonderful things will renew! Happy Christmas!
It’s fall and we are traveling the coast and mountain ranges to view the beautiful fall foliage and partake of the gifts of the season. This is surely a beautiful time of the year filled with autumn colors, gorgeous blue skies, crisp sunny days and yummy fruits of the season. Enjoy and photograph your fall journey to remember during those cold days of winter.
The joy of the Promise Gardens each year is my over 40 peony bushes-trees that produce such beauty that takes my breath away. They are my favorite next to the Rose….a must have in your gardens dear friends for the sheer loveliness and joy they bring!
I HEARD the farm cocks crowing, loud, and faint, and thin, When hooded night was going and one clear planet winked: I heard shrill notes begin down the spired wood distinct, When cloudy shoals were chinked and gilt with fires of day. White-misted was the weald; the lawns were silver-grey; The lark his lonely field for heaven had forsaken; And the wind upon its way whispered the boughs of may, And touched the nodding peony-flowers to bid them waken.
Cherry, Pear, Apple and just about every other kind of blossom is filling up the gardens and popping out all over. Last night and this morning we had a deluge followed by amazing sunshine and it is just beautiful to behold. The grass is greening up and with popping out tulips, azaleas and other bulbs and flowering trees, I did not want to miss a Cherry Blossom post on the Promise Gardens. If you did not get into Washington, DC or surrounding areas to view those incredible blooms, remember you can capture them at many local gardens, parks and tree-lined streets. Take a walk with your camera and see what you can capture. It is an amazing time to capture this spring beauty!
And in the warm hedge grew lush eglantine, Green cowbind and the moonlight-colour’d May, And cherry-blossoms, and white cups whose wine Was the bright dew yet drain’d not by the day; And wild roses, and ivy serpentine, With its dark buds and leaves wandering astray; And flowers, azure, black, and streak’d with gold, Fairer than any waken’d eyes behold. _B.Shelly
