…the snow in winter as it waters the earth so it will break forth in spring with abundance of beauty. You are missed flowers, leaves and color but soon you will appear again.
“THE SNOW had begun in the gloaming,
And busily all the night
Had been heaping field and highway
With a silence deep and white.
Every pine and fir and hemlock
Wore ermine too dear for an earl,
And the poorest twig on the elm-tree
Was ridged inch deep with pearl.
From sheds new-roofed with Carrara
Came Chanticleer’s muffled crow,
The stiff rails softened to swan’s-down,
And still fluttered down the snow.
I stood and watched by the window
The noiseless work of the sky,
And the sudden flurries of snow-birds,
Like brown leaves whirling by.
I thought of a mound in sweet Auburn
Where a little headstone stood;
How the flakes were folding it gently,
As did robins the babes in the wood…”

It’s that time again Promise Gardens friends! We are in total decorating mode and the lights are on! We love the simplicity of white lights in our home both indoors and out but love the colors of well-lit trees and the colorful imagination of designers. We are sharing our favorite trees we have photographed at beautiful gardens in the US as well as our own at home. It makes the heart merry and surely lights up our imagination and inspiration. Be inspired to create beautiful lights of beauty this Christmas season.
This is just one of the many beautiful images we photographed at The Greenbrier Resort, a totally magnificent Christmas experience.
We are once again in Fall season as the leaves change color, the skies are azure blue, the fall mums are blooming and we await the final days of color that will turn to bare trees and snowy ground. Fall is a favorite time of year to photograph the forests in the Shenandoah Valley and in the Promise Gardens before winter. We are off again to capture them all.
Enjoy the season as the Promise Gardens prepare for bedding down for winter soon. We will miss their blooms but anticipate them again in Spring!
It’s that time again and one of our favorite summer joys of putting together this year’s summer porch, its decor, pots and arbors of flowers and color-themed that becomes a favorite spot for entertaining. For 2016, we continued the white, aqua, teal and lime green theme. This year we added new clematis, coleus, creeping jenny filled pots, dahlia and more. A new aqua-cream chevron rug, aqua umbrella, aqua-lime placemats and colored pots finish off the design for 2016. The storyboard gives you a hint of the glory we enjoy every day from every view. Take advantage of the beauty we have and design a porch that reflects your love of creation in color and design and take it a step further and photograph it to enjoy prints in your home all year-long.
