Beautiful Golden Copper Lydia

Beautiful Golden Copper Lydia has been wonderfully dressed in a brilliant golden copper for 2018.  She spent many years “natural” then to “dressed in blue” and now exquisitely dressed in gleaming golden copper.  When the sun’s rays shine on Lydia she takes on a totally surreal beauty that only the light, sun and color could capture.  Remember as you garden and tire of the “old look” you can always rejuvenate and beautify those sad garden statues and features to new again.  Isn’t she lovely?  We think so and even though the photos do not do true justice to her, the eyes do.  Happy Gardening and be sure to add a “Lydia” to your gardens too.

Romantic Gardens Made Simple

Each year as we prepare the Promise Gardens for the Spring-Summer Flower & Rose Show we look for creative and new ways to feature plants and vines that make a “wow, come look closely at me.”  This is especially important when you have large gardens with many trees and ones that “need a little help” in being admired.  We work with the Arborists to clean up, take down and prune trees and utilize and then create new features.  In the above image, this is a small very hard tree that needed help so after pruning we created a trunk structure to house a bird house perch and climbing clematis.  These are always welcome in the garden for their natural beauty and secondary use to showcase climbing roses and clematis.  These natural tree climbers create a “romantic” feature of loveliness in the gardens so don’t give up on your small or sad trees make good and creative use of them.  Soon this climbing clematis will fill out all of the green vines with beautiful purple lavender flowers!  Happy Gardening!

I Fell In Love in The Promise Gardens

…that’s what they say…well, BHG has this wonderful new idea for that “other” i.e., #3 potting table for the Promise Gardens and yes, my gardening friends, I am going to do this!  Don’t you just want one of these in your gardens?  Go for it and convert one of those odd pieces that you just don’t know what to do with…I am…

Promise Garden Color Guides

The Promise Garden color scheme for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show is taken from the image below and the beautiful image of  Alma-Tadema.  [see posts below]  I created a color guide from the images to show those colors that will be used in the decor, flower pots, containers, hanging baskets, furniture, potting & garden tables, benches and more.   Several of  the statuary will be painted in various hues of these colors as well.  The large Lydia in the main Promise Garden is already in the beautiful color of turquoise with silver overlay (images forthcoming).  I will also add shabby chic furniture and draping in off-white.  The secret garden and shabby chic gardens will also have other variations of the colors from this scheme. I am inspired!  I hope it inspires you for your gardens as well.

A Lovely Garden Ride

How absolutely exquisite! This is perfection for that old bike in our garden. At first, I considered new paint in bright primary colors of reds, yellows but after this image, I am captivated by the pinks, lavenders, white and would be so “shabby chic” with the  “purple” or pastel door”!  {see post below}  I am in pursuit…it is all coming together so use your imagination – a pink bike overflowing with pastel flowers parked outside of the purple/lavender doors…such an invitation of delight to enter…the path to the secret garden…
