A Beautiful Ride with Flowers

As you might have guessed from my new banner, I have completed the garden bicycle and it is exactly what I anticipated it to be…simply lovely!  As I blogged on my design in earlier posts of “Promise Garden Color Guide” and “A Lovely Ride” the flower bicycle is a favorite focal point for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show with lots of exclamations of “wow” with praise and “I want one”!

A few notes:  My final decision was Turquoise as the color for the bike (see Color Guide link above) and Purple for the Herb Tricycle (photos forthcoming).  The flowers will grow out and cascade over the bicycle in several weeks which will enhance it even more.  I used many different annuals and perennials that trail, cascade and give an ever-blooming display.  Watch the blog for more on the bikes, trikes and potting tables.  The slideshow gallery for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show will be posted soon.   Be inspired to create and happy gardening!!

Peonies in Full Bloom

A very busy two weeks of show in the Promise Gardens!  This is another image of the peonies brought indoors to enjoy before the heavy rainfall of this week.  The colors are magnificent.  I love the look of the aqua and turquoise glass with peonies and English roses.  The aroma fills the room with incredible delight!  I am excited about the yellow peonies which are making quite a show this year.

A Lit’l Bit Blue

A beautiful full day in the gardens preparing them for the spring show.  It was exhausting to say the least — 30 2cu.ft. bags of mulch in the center garden down; two trees cut down; moved large potting table into a new spot under the Plum Tree (it’s going to be so sassy there) moved and planted two very large rose bushes and more.  It is a ton of  work (pun intended) but worth every minute when completed.  This image depicts some of the new color scheme in the new garden design.  It’s going to be lovely!  Until next time, take time to enjoy Creation and the beauty of each day.

Promise Gardens: A Porch with A View

The Promise Gardens “Porch With A View’ — the new look for 2011 “Rose & Flower Show” and 2011 Season.   What’s new?  A lovely vintage trellis that will soon be covered with Blaze Climbing Roses and Purple Clematis.  A new potting table filled with lovely things and soon overflowing flowering plants.  The theme colors this year:  Purples, Aqua, Cream, Pale & Power Pinks and of course lots of shades of green.  The image reflects just a few areas of the porch…watch for more.   Happy Gardening (and viewing)!

March Awakens the Promise Gardens

Spring is just around the corner and the rain and spring bulbs popping up in the Promise Gardens are a true indication that spring will soon be here.  Along with those lovelies that we patiently wait for during our cold and snow-filled days of winter, comes the work and preparation to ready the gardens for their best show of the season.  We love spring and summer months and although the Promise Gardens are filled with plants and trees for all seasons, it is our favorite garden time.  Why you ask?  As you can see from this image, the roses, peonies and flowering plants that pop with color and shout out to be loved, shared and photographed!  In this view is a favorite spot for our wedding, engagement, bridal portrait photography.  All of the gardens within the Promise Gardens have special places for every photographic session and opportunity.  Filling the gardens with furniture, props of every type and description make it a lovely and serene place to photograph and enjoy.  We will share features from each of those specials places this year on the blog.  Do you love “secret gardens” “children’s gardens” “romantic spots” “reading nooks” “statuary” “alees” “water features” “floral scents” “chirping birds” “garden tea parties” and paths filled with “lovely surprises”?  If so, come and visit our blog and enjoy the “Promise” of the season with us.

Where has your beloved gone, O most beautiful among women? Where has your beloved turned, that we may seek him with you? My beloved has gone down to his garden to the beds of spices, to graze in the gardens and to gather lilies. I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine; he grazes among the lilies.  Song of Solomon 6:1-3
