A Beautiful Ride with Flowers

As you might have guessed from my new banner, I have completed the garden bicycle and it is exactly what I anticipated it to be…simply lovely!  As I blogged on my design in earlier posts of “Promise Garden Color Guide” and “A Lovely Ride” the flower bicycle is a favorite focal point for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show with lots of exclamations of “wow” with praise and “I want one”!

A few notes:  My final decision was Turquoise as the color for the bike (see Color Guide link above) and Purple for the Herb Tricycle (photos forthcoming).  The flowers will grow out and cascade over the bicycle in several weeks which will enhance it even more.  I used many different annuals and perennials that trail, cascade and give an ever-blooming display.  Watch the blog for more on the bikes, trikes and potting tables.  The slideshow gallery for the 2012 Rose & Flower Show will be posted soon.   Be inspired to create and happy gardening!!

Peonies in Full Bloom

A very busy two weeks of show in the Promise Gardens!  This is another image of the peonies brought indoors to enjoy before the heavy rainfall of this week.  The colors are magnificent.  I love the look of the aqua and turquoise glass with peonies and English roses.  The aroma fills the room with incredible delight!  I am excited about the yellow peonies which are making quite a show this year.

The Gardener

The Gardener

The gardener does not love to talk.
He makes me keep the gravel walk;
And when he puts his tools away,
He locks the door and takes the key.

Away behind the currant row,
Where no one else but cook may go,
Far in the plots, I see him dig,
Old and serious, brown and big.

He digs the flowers, green, red, and blue,
Nor wishes to be spoken to.
He digs the flowers and cuts the hay,
And never seems to want to play.

Silly gardener! summer goes,
And winter comes with pinching toes,
When in the garden bare and brown
You must lay your barrow down.

Well now, and while the summer stays,
To profit by these garden days
O how much wiser you would be
To play at Indian wars with me!

Garden Views & Outdoor Studios (via Jay&Jacy Photography)

Garden Views & Outdoor Studios Our favorite time of year is spring/summer/fall when our Promise Gardens are in bloom which serves as our outdoor studio.  It does not get better than this to shoot landscape, nature, portraits, bridal, engagement, teens, children, families and those fun and funky photos in natural light of day, blue hour and sunset with the beautiful natural backdrop of creation.   Each year we dress the outdoor studio in its finery for our Rose & Garden Sho … Read More
